Jason Bearden

Jason Adam Bearden, 32, of Valley Grande, AL passed away on Friday, May 30, 2014 at his home. Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey and Clara Headley; James and Martha Bearden; cousin, Jennifer Heath. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Bearden; children, Jackson and Emilyn; parents, Jimmy and Joyce Bearden and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. A chapel service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Alan Yarborough officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Blackmon, Jere Blackmon, Hobson Curry, David Snider, Ross Bearden, and Josh Headley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make memorial donations to the Crosspoint Christian Church Building Fund, 1710 W Dallas Avenue, Selma, Alabama 36701.

Jerry Wayne Bearden

Jerry Wayne Bearden, 65 of Lacey’s Spring died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Bearden was born Thursday, September 9, 1948 in Marshall County, the son of Millard and Mae Hodges Bearden. He was in the recycling business and had lived in the Lacey’s Spring area for the past 35 years. He was a member of Cotaco Creek Stables and a sponsor of the Mule and Buggy Rides. He is survived by wife: Dreama Bennett-Bearden; a son and daughter-in-law: Joey and Keri Bearden; a daughter: Kimberly Bearden; step son: Joseph Bennett; step daughter: Chantz Grace (Darrell); 8 grandchildren: Little Joseph Bearden, Tristen Blocker, Haley Webster, Logan Webster, Braylin Bennett, Jaxton Bennett, Brody Bearden and Ty Criscoe; a brother: William Bearden; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Mary and James Whitaker and Edna Bearden and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends and neighbors; preceded in death by his parents: Millard and Mae Bearden, a brother: Millard Bearden and two sisters: Virginia Bolding and Nellie Bearden. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel Funeral Home, Morgan City, Brother Chad Chamberlain, officiating. Burial will be in Bartee Cemetery, Lacey’s Spring, Morgan County, Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City and Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. Pallbearers will be Derrick Bearden, Jackie Brown, Eddie Freeman, Blake Gentry, Paul Taylor and Shane Wilhoite. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel, Morgan City.

James Bearden

James Rivers Bearden (Jimmy) was born January 24, 1928 to Monroe and Edna Perry Bearden. Mr. Bearden passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013. He will be remembered for his love for God, Family, and his love for the outdoors. His most cherished times were spent with his family. He was recipient of the Medal of Occupation of Japan and World War II Victory Medal. He was also a long time employee of Holsum Bakery and American Candy Company.
Mr. Bearden is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bearden; children, James Allen Bearden, Sr. (Miriam) and Paul Monroe Bearden (Mary Gail); grandchildren, Pam Ivey (Marc), James Allen Bearden, Jr. (Carrie), Jonathan Ross Bearden (Gwen), John Paul Bearden (Natalie), and Kent Monroe Bearden; great grandchildren, Mathew Alston Ivey, Grace Anne Ivey, Emma Kate Bearden, Jackson Wells Bearden, James Graham Bearden, and William Hatch Bearden; brother, Johnny Bearden; sister, Dorothy Lovelady ; numerous nieces and nephews; step children, Janice Bowling (Temple), Jim Henderson (Kathy), and Joy Sikes (Dan); step grandchildren, Elizabeth Bowling, Temple Bowling (Kimberly), Jonathan Bowling (Jackie), John Allen Taylor (Lori), Paige Henderson Sleister, and Meghan Henderson; step great grandchildren, John Clark Bowling, Katie Bowling, Elizabeth Bowling, Temple Bowling IV, Tyner Beth Bowling, Walt Chandler Bowling, and Zachery Sleister.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Kopp officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Memorial United Methodist Church, 2510 Broad Street, Selma, AL 36701 or Alabama Teen Challenge, P.O. Box 445, Selma, AL 36701.
Mr. Bearden was preceded in death by his sisters, Willie Mae Hopkins and Mageline Seymore; brothers, Oliver Bearden, Mutt Bearden, and A.C. Bearden.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his sister, Dorothy Lovelady for all her love and care and to the staff of Cedar Hill Assisted Living and Park Place Nursing Home.
