Mrs. Margaret Higgins Sandlin, age 86 of Athens, AL died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at her Residence. 

Graveside services will be Friday, July 25, 2014, 2 PM @ Limestone Memorial Gardens with Bill Perkins officiating. 

Visitation will be Friday from 12 Noon until 1:45 PM @ the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sandlin was born January 9, 1928 in Limestone Co. AL to Ernest Claude Higgins & Ruby Lee Griffin Higgins. She was a Member of the Central Church of Christ, and retired from Red Stone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL
Survivors include, Husband: Leon Sandlin of Athens, AL, Daughter: Pam Foster of Gurley, AL, Sister: Dot Puckett of Huntsville, AL, Grandchildren: Heather Schlapman of Huntsville, AL, Scott Foster of Decatur, AL, 3 Great Grandchildren

Margaret Mahan Cooley

Margaret Mahan Cooley, 75 of Union Grove and a former resident of the Grassy, Shoal Creek area died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Marshall Medical Center North. Mrs. Cooley was born March 11, 1939 in Marshall County, the daughter of William H. and Eular Mahan. She was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk several years ago at Cooley’s Grocery and Tackle Store located on the Guntersville Dam Road. She was a member of Bonds Chapel Church. She and her husband, Robert Cooley were married 50 years when he preceded her in death February 1, 2006; she was also preceded in death by a son: Tim Cooley, her parents: William and Eular Mahan, three brothers: Bill, Herman and Bertis Mahan and three sisters: Mary Lawson, Ollie Buchanan and Dollie Buchanan. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Tony and Mary Cooley; a daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Ed Jones; 8 grandchildren and spouses: Jeff (Jamie) Jones, Brandy Cooley, Misti Conner, Nikki (Danny) Schrader, Scott (Megan) Cooley, Brian Cooley, Cindi (Mark) Black and Sonya Caswell; 12 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren, a brother: Densil Mahan and her Golden Living Family. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother Jerry Burgett, officiating with eulogies by Jeff Jones and Scott Cooley and songs by Tim Maze. Burial will be in Sweet Home Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. Pallbearers will be Houston Black, Hunter Black, Mark Black, Brian Cooley, Scott Cooley, Jeff Jones and Danny Schrader. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.

Margaret Moore Houston Decatur Margaret Moore Houston, 91, died July 10, 2014. Funeral service will be Monday, July 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home with burial in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Margaret Velleda Heifner , age 80, of Irondale, AL., went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2014. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Roebuck Plaza. Margaret enjoyed flower arranging, sewing and gardening. She is preceded in death by her son Charles Heifner; parents MC and Mary Velleda Moore; her sister Edna Mae Hamby; and her brothers Ralph Moore, Billy Moore, Tim Moore, and Bobby Moore. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 years Olin Heifner; her daughter Tammie Heifner; son Kent Heifner (Tonda); sister, Sylvia Deason. Two grandchildren Bobby Heifner and Wendie Entrekin. Six great-grandchildren Toye Jackson, Chase Jackson, Peyton Marrs, Taylor Heifner, Tru Heifner, and Trace Heifner. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 5-7pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Valhalla Cemetery. Jefferson Memorial East will be directing the services.
